The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen
Schubert / Ruzicka / Mahler
Of all the super star singers of our time, she achieves the unparalleled again and again. As a result, the world worships at the feet of Anna Prohaska, regardless of which genre or music form she happens to interpret: opera, period music, lieder or contemporary works. Despite this, the soprano has remained down to earth, cycles through her home city Berlin and is a great fan of rock music in her free time.
Anna Prohaska has a reputation for enjoying great challenges. For her concert with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, she sings the soprano solo in Gustav Mahler’s Fourth Symphony. She also takes on the solo part in the world-premiere of »Mnemosyne«, a new composition by conductor Peter Ruzicka. The title will stir memories for Anna Prohaska, since Wolfgang Rihm also dedicated a work with the same title to her.
Additionally, the programme of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen offers the opportunity to hear well-known works in a novel format: Ruzicka will conduct Mahler’s Fourth Symphony in an arrangement for chamber ensemble by Schönberg student Erwin Stein. The arrangement of Schubert’s Fantasy in f minor – written when Schubert was secretly in love with Karoline Esterházy – is by Rolf Liebermann, Hamburg’s legendary opera director.
