The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen / Paavo Järvi
»Haydn, the Shakespeare of Music«
The Shakespeare of music
Is it fair to call Joseph Haydn the Shakespeare of music? There are certainly parallels between the two artists, even if they are separated by more than 150 years. Like Shakespeare, Haydn always defied the rules and conventions of his time in his work, and they both exhibited a great sense of humour and loved nothing more than to surprise their audience.
