Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring is regarded as one of the key works of the twentieth century. The 1913 premiere caused a real scandal and today the piece is an integral part of the symphony orchestra repertoire. In the opening weeks of the new 2017/18 Elbphilharmonie season, the legendary Cleveland Orchestra comes to Hamburg to perform this momentous work, conducted by Franz Welser-Möst.
