Tetzlaff Quartett
Hamburg International Music Festival
In his late string quartets, Beethoven broke down the constraints of the genre, especially in the »Große Fuge« (Great Fugue), which was initially conceived as the finale of Op. 130 and which was removed on the insistence of an anxious publisher. Shostakovich, whose free spirit wrote against Soviet censorship, also had problems with real life. The Tetzlaff Quartet, formed around the two siblings on the first violin and cello, goes all out with this programme.
