Iyad Sughayer, piano
Pianist Iyad Sughayer, who was born in Palestine and grew up in Jordan, is the proverbial child prodigy. After only learning the piano for three years, he gave his orchestral concert debut at the age of eight. The immensely talented youngster has long since turned into a great musician who is currently putting the finishing touches to his technique at the renowned Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
His playing is not only technically flawless: it also radiates a thrilling depth of expression and entices with sensuous passion, as Sughayer has shown both as a competition prizewinner and in solo recitals featuring music by Mozart and Schubert.
For his appearance in the »Teatime Classics« series, Iyad Sughayer has chosen an anthology by one of his favourite composers: Franz Liszt’s Swiss musical diary, depicting in nine pieces moods that vary from wild and tempestuous to tender yearning.
