The Trio Marie has been around since 2013, and takes its name from the oldest tree in Berlin, known as »Fat Marie«. In the meantime, the trio has supplied ample proof of its class, carrying off prizes at major competitions, and throwing light on interesting works on the fringe of chamber music. Thus one of the focuses of their repertoire is music of the 1930s and 40s that was outlawed as »degenerate« at the time.
For its debut in the series »Teatime Classics«, Trio Marie presents a well-known clarinet piece by Weber together with two multi-faceted modern classics: The suite by French composer Darius Milhaud flirts with jazz and French folk songs, while we hear a trio version of Stravinsky’s »Soldier’s Tale« where lively street and club music likewise sets the tone.
