Tamás Pálfalvi comes from Budapest – he is young, handsome, and plays the trumpet like a young god. The Hungarian-born artist studied among others with his famous compatriot Gábor Boldoczki and won the Fanny Mendelssohn Förderpreis in 2015.

Pálfalvi has put together a varied programme for his Elbphilharmonie debut: In addition to folk-like pieces by Bela Bartók, Georges Enescu and Pablo de Sarasate, the programme includes two compositions by the contemporary Hungarians Peter Eötvös and László Dubrovay, as well as the Trumpet Concerto No. 1 by Estonian composer Heino Tamberg, which is characterised by its fiery rhythm.

The musical partner of the master trumpeter is the pianist János Palojtay. Sponsored by Sir András Schiff, the 30-year-old artist will appear in Hamburg also as a soloist with works by Bartók and Schostakovich.

Renovation Work in Recital Hall Foyer: The Recital Hall Foyer is currently not accessible owing to renovation work currently being carried out. A cloakroom for guests will be provided on the Plaza in close vicinity to the entrance of the Recital Hall. Some intermission refreshments will also be on offer on the Plaza.
