Szymanowski Quartet / Michail Lifits
Spotlight on Mieczysław Weinberg
It took a long time for Mieczysław Weinberg to emerge from the shadow of his friend Dmitri Shostakovich. But the work of the Soviet composer with Polish-Jewish roots has been establishing itself in the international concert repertoire for some years now. Weinberg would have celebrated his 100th birthday in 2019 – a good reason to devote a spotlight to him, focusing on his chamber music in particular. The Polish Szymanowski Quartet and pianist Michail Lifits present Weinberg’s Piano Trio and his Piano Quintet.
