Lalo / Brahms – 2G+ AND PHYSICAL DISTANCE
The spirit of Spain
Éduard Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole was inspired by the Spanish violinist Pablo de Sarasate. The fiery sounds of the orchestra make the symphony memorable and captivating – and gives it an exotic air. The soloist dives in briefly, offers the orchestra space to stoke the fire, then soon continues to tell the story of this work – essentially a violin concerto – in spectacular, susurrant, swirling style: with the Bulgarian competition winner Svetlin Roussev on the violin and the Spanish conductor Pablo Gonzáles on the podium.
