Symphoniker Hamburg / Peter Ruzicka
»Mein brausend Fühlen« / »My Effervescent Feelings«
With the support of the Leipzig Horn Quartet and under the baton of Peter Ruzicka, the Symphoniker Hamburg turn their attention to one of the riddles of music history in their first concert in the »VielHarmonie« series: Mahler’s unfinished Tenth Symphony. Its precious fragments include the Adagio movement, a self-portrait with »magical omens«, but without a key signature. Scholars now doubt whether fate is really »knocking on the door« in Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony with its famous opening motif, but the variations on these four magical notes in the course of the score are nonetheless mysterious. In Ruzicka’s fascinating work »Spiral«, the musical motifs revolve around one another in a spiral: as if on a winding staircase, they spiral upwards to the »next higher level of perception« in each case.
