Symphoniker Hamburg / Adrian Iliescu
Christmas Concert
When the year ends, we once again become painfully aware that what we perceive as time may well simply be a circle. Rarely has the cyclical quality of the natural world been as masterfully transposed to music as in Antonio Vivaldi’s »Four Seasons«, which are actually four violin concertos. That is followed by one of Gustav Mahler’s best-known works: the Adagietto from his Fifth Symphony, which features only strings and a harp, and is full of tender and poignant delicacy. This traditional Symphoniker Hamburg Christmas concert comes to a close with Ludwig van Beethoven’s jovial Fourth Symphony. Happy holidays!
