Seventeen musicians, one sound: founded in 1951, the SWR Big Band is regarded as one the world’s best big bands. Nominated for a Grammy four times and the first German band to be nominated for the »Prêmio da Música Brasileira«, one of Brazil’s most prestigious music prizes, the band’s new programme centres on the legendary Ella Fitzgerald, who would have celebrated her 100th birthday in 2017. The fabulous singer Fola Dada assumes the role of the popular female jazz singer.
