No lesser figure than Messiaen’s widow invited the pianist Steven Osborne to come to Paris and make an intensive study of her husband’s musical legacy after she had heard him perform. In occupied Paris in 1944, despite constant fighting between the French resistance and the invading German army, Messiaen wrote his cycle »Vingt regards sur l’Enfant Jésus«, which illuminates the power of love and faith. In a recital that forms part of the »Lux aeterna« festival, Steven Osborne offers concertgoers the rare chance to hear this celestial creation in its entirety.
