»Bunt« (Multi-Coloured) – the title of Stefan Gwildis’ latest album says it all. Each song has its own timbre, each musical style finds its place: whether soul, funk, reggae, jazz or even a ska number – the Hamburg-based singer does not allow himself and his music to be pigeonholed into any genre. What unites them is Gwildis’ basic conviction: he only does what he enjoys. And anyone who has seen him live can confirm this. Bending just for the sake of success is out of the question for the singer. For 40 years now, he has held his own in the German-language scene and surprises us again and again with projects whose creativity is hard to resist.
