Shara Nova (My Brightest Diamond) / Aarhus Symfoniorkester
Elbphilharmonie Summer / Kampnagel International Summer Festival
»Seven Deadly Pearls« shows the musical cosmos of the singer, musician and composer Shara Nova, who, working under the pseudonym My Brightest Diamond, is among today’s outstanding female pop composers. After studying opera and composition, Nova worked together with musicians like Sufjan Stevens, Bryce Dessner and David Byrne, composing the pop opera »You Us We All«, and releasing as My Brightest Diamond three albums that dissolve the boundaries between chamber music and indie rock. In Hamburg, Shara Nova performs Kurt Weill’s satirical ballet »The Seven Deadly Sins« together with a number of her own songs in versions with new instrumentation. The programme also features an orchestral piece by the American composer Sarah Kirkland Snider, whom Shara Nova has been working with for many years.
