Sarah Davachi »Antonio Gaudí«
Reflektor Max Richter & Yulia Mahr / ePhil
Live set accompanying the film
Sarah Davachi became fascinated by sound bodies while working as a museum guide in the National Music Centre, an instrument exhibition in her home city of Calgary. How does a resonant body vibrate? What are the physical laws that affect sound? As an electro-acoustic composer, she draws on these experiences and makes use of a broad range of instruments: strings, woodwinds, organs, the human voice and icons of electronic sound creation such as the EMS or the Sequential Circuits Pro One. After her debut in the Elbphilharmonie’s »ePhil« series, she now returns to Hamburg to perform at Max Richter’s »Reflektor« weekend. Davachi produces a captivating live sound landscape to accompany the impressive documentary »Antonio Gaudí« by the Japanese filmmaker Hiroshi Teshigahara.
