The Elbphilharmonie Summer Festival kicks off with a gentle Caribbean breeze on the Elbe. For many years, Roberto Fonseca was one of the driving forces behind the second generation of the Buena Vista Social Club, but the Cuban piano star has now long been ploughing his own musical furrow.
His highly stimulating cocktail of Afro-Cuban rhythms and jazz, with a pinch of big-band and hip-hop sounds, skilfully steers clear of ethnic clichés. Featuring musicians and pieces from his latest album »ABUC«, the temperature on the night will be positively tropical.
