Quatuor Ebène
Beethoven / Brahms
The New York Times once called the Quatour Ebène »a string quartet that can easily morph into a jazz band«. What began as a distraction in the university practice rooms for four young music students is now symbolic of the quartet’s fresh approach to tradition and modernity. That is exactly what brought them victory at the prestigious ARD Music Competition in 2004. It proved to be the beginning of an international career that has seen the French quartet win a long list of prizes, among them several ECHO Klassik awards. Beethoven’s early and late quartet pieces serve as a frame for Brahms’s complex and intense String Quartet in C minor.
