At the outset of his career, people were amazed by Andreas Scholl’s high voice. But with his heavenly alto he is a master of virtuoso coloratura, fine vocal nuances, melodic lines – and well thought-out recital programmes. He shares a love for forging links with the Israeli artist Tamar Halperin, who is his partner both at the keyboard and in the private sphere.
In this concert, the two of them travel through 500 years of English and England-related songs, touching in the process on the most varied facets of human life, be it in the melancholy of John Dowland or the vividness of Henry Purcell, be it in Britten’s folk-song arrangements or Haydn’s wayfarer symbolism.
Please note: This concert was originally planned to take place in the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall, however it has been relocated to the Laeiszhalle Recital Hall due to renovation work in the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall Foyer.
