Japanese pianist Mayuko Miyata fell in love with the music of the Polish composer Frédéric Chopin at an early age. As a result, during her studies she felt drawn to Europe and to Poland in particular. Together with the young French cellist and graduate of the Berlin Philharmonic’s Karajan Academy François Thirault, she recently gave an acclaimed Chopin programme at the Elbphilharmonie. Thirault has already performed as a solo cellist with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. In their upcoming concert together, the two exceptional talents set the Recital Hall ablaze with the sounds of Russia – a programme of works by Rachmaninov and Prokofiev.
