Flying Bach is a full-length breakdance show by the four-time breakdance world champions Flying Steps to the sounds of the classical master Johann Sebastian Bach. The inspiration for the show came to Vartan Bassil, the founder and artistic director of Flying Steps, after attending a classical concert: »I liked the idea of replacing a ballerina doing pirouettes on tiptoes with a breakdancer doing head spins,« he explains. The result is impressive. Working with the opera director Christoph Hagel, in this crossover show the Flying Steps tell the dramatic story of a dance group: conflict, struggle, disappointment and joy – and all within the musical framework of Bach’s »The Well-Tempered Clavier«.
