Poliça & stargaze

With stargaze, Berlin conductor André de Ridder created an ensemble that combines different musical worlds with consummate ease: time after time, stargaze blends the sound of a classical ensemble with pop or electronica – or, as in tonight’s concert, with indie rock. Their musical partner is the acclaimed independent band Poliça from Minneapolis. The programme features an album they’ve made together, »Music for the Long Emergency«, which successfully adopts its protagonists’ very different styles. In dark-hued soundscapes, the string textures of stargaze are united with the melancholy voice of Poliça lead singer Channy Leaneagh and the energy of her fellow band members.
