Description

Peter Ruzicka is one of the most remarkable figures on the international music scene. In addition to his main occupation of composing, Ruzicka is also a sought-after conductor; he has been director of the Hamburg State Opera, the Salzburg Festival, the Munich Opera Biennale and many other institutions. Ruzicka goes to a lot of trouble to generate interest in composers who are not really in the limelight.

In this spirit he has been promoting the music of Rumanian violinist, teacher and composer George Enescu, who rarely features on German concert programmes, for some time now. Thus in the fourth Philharmonic Concert, Ruzicka conducts Enescu’s Fourth Symphony as well as a piece from his own pen, a tone poem titled »Isis«, and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto in E-flat major with Rudolf Buchbinder as soloist.
