While the entire classical music world seems to be dominated by the rigid laws of marketing these days, there is one pianist who has – admirably – resisted such PR domination: Grigory Sokolov. His success proves him right, because his art speaks for itself.

With each of his concerts, Sokolov manages to put the exclusive spotlight on the music itself. From the first note on, his persona steps back, and it seems as if the music flows through him and is heard for the first time in its original and pure form.
