Philharmonic Chamber Music Recital
Schumann / Brahms
For better or worse
Brahms and Schumann: one of the most legendary and fateful encounters in music history is the theme of the third chamber concert. In the early 1840s, Schumann turned to chamber music and songs. In 1843 he wrote his Opus 46 for the unusual combination of two pianos, two cellos and horn. And Brahms wrote his Trio, Op. 40, a standard work of the chamber music repertoire, for the warm, Romantic sound of the natural horn.
