Philharmonic Chamber Music Concert
Luis / Mendelssohn Bartholdy / Crespo
The Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra is honouring its American General Music Director, Kent Nagano, who has been at the helm of the orchestra for a season now. On this evening, the orchestra will span a musical bridge between Hamburg and the US.
The concert will visit both cultures; it will explore their similarities and differences. Works strongly associated with the USA will be juxtaposed with works by composers who have either worked in Hamburg or who were born here. The programme will range from Brahms to Gershwin, from Henze to the Beatles; it will encompass all styles and eras. It is presented by 11 brass players of the Philharmonic State Orchestra.
