Philharmonic Academy / Kent Nagano
Campo: »The Seasons of Life« / Beethoven: Symphony No. 7
Maximum enjoyment
Classical meets modern, the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra meets soloists from its own ranks, and the audience meets at a familiar concert hall filled with the city’s history: the Laeiszhalle. Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, lauded at the time of its premiere as »one of the most interesting and highest pleasures« and a triumph against Napoleon, was simply »one of the happiest products« for the deaf composer. Beethoven’s eternally contemporary music from times past is juxtaposed with a world premiere by the French composer Régis Campo for violin and orchestra, the solo part of which is interpreted alternately by several soloists from the orchestra. Campo’s melodic and colourful compositional style has already been brought to life by General Music Director Kent Nagano in several world premieres – and this latest premiere now takes place in the heart of Hamburg.
