orchester le phénix / Nuria Rial
Boccherini
Italian composer Luigi Boccherini’s »Stabat Mater« is one of the most delicate and hopeful of all the settings of the medieval lines »Stabat mater dolorosa«. »Stabat Mater« stands for the grief of the Madonna at the death of Christ, and the anonymous poem originally formed part of the Catholic Mass. Boccherini wrote a magnificent score featuring passages of extreme virtuosity with daring harmonies in places, demanding the utmost skill of the soloist. At the Elbphilharmonie the twice-over Echo prizewinner orchester le phénix accompanies Catalan soprano Nuria Rial, a specialist in Baroque vocal music with a fine, clear voice and a softly vibrating timbre.
