Opening Concert / German-French Annual Congress 2017
Felix Mendelssohn Jugendsinfonieorchester
Under the patronage of the Mayor of Hamburg, Olaf Scholz, and at the invitation of the German-French Society of Cluny, the annual congress of the German-French Societies will be held in Hamburg this year. There is a lot of common ground in Hamburg’s relations with France – historical, political, economic and cultural. All six societies support German-French cooperation, and since 1958 Hamburg has also maintained a close partnership with the city of Marseilles. The congress opens with a festive concert in the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall, where the cultural ambassador will be the Felix Mendelssohn Jugendsinfonieorchester. The ensemble of young musicians, which has won several awards, also regularly appears in France.
Renovation Work in Recital Hall Foyer: The Recital Hall Foyer is currently not accessible owing to renovation work currently being carried out. A cloakroom for guests will be provided on the Plaza in close vicinity to the entrance of the Recital Hall. Some intermission refreshments will also be on offer on the Plaza. We apologise for the inconvenience.
