If you’ve been playing as a band for ten years and have several successful albums together under your belt, the question often arises as to what’s left to do that might be new and surprising – both for the band itself and its audience. The Omer Klein Trio has a spirited response to this: the studio album »Life & Fire«, recorded live in front of a small audience – extremely relaxed chamber jazz at its best.
Together with his fellow countrymen Haggai Cohen-Milo on bass and Amir Bresler on drums, the Israeli pianist Omer Klein recorded this album almost entirely on one evening in a Berlin studio. The new sound of the acclaimed trio is set apart by catchy, elegant melodies, flowing bass lines and refined rhythmic ideas. Klein doesn’t miss the chance though to incorporate the sounds of his homeland into his music too – from folk influences from the Maghreb and the Middle East to Jewish religious songs. Wherever he’s involved there are always some surprises in store.
