Nowruz Festivities
Arshid Azarine Trio / Parvaz Dance Ensemble
Nowruz (literally: new day) is the Persian New Year’s Day and the traditional festival celebrating the beginning of spring, according to the astronomical calculation. To mark the occasion, the German-Iranian cultural association DIWAN will be putting on a varied programme of music at the Laeiszhalle. The Arshid Azarine Trio from Paris, which already appeared at the Elbphilharmonie in 2018, presents an exciting mix of jazz chords, Persian scales and Afro-Iranian rhythms, while the Sweden-based Parvaz Dance Ensemble performs fascinating traditional dances from Iran.
Parallel to the musical programme, there will be homemade culinary delicacies provided by Iranian Children’s Cancer Aid IKKH, which collects money to help young cancer victims in Iran.
