»I have always been a fan of Bernstein, as a musician and simply as a person. His music is unique and I think ›West Side Story‹ is one of the best musicals of all time,« Nils Landgren once said in an interview. The Swedish jazz trombonist released his album »Some Other Time – A Tribute to Leonard Bernstein« in 2016 – a great homage to his role model, which he recorded with legends from the jazz scene.
A member of this dream team was singer Janis Siegel from the a cappella group »The Manhattan Transfer«. The native New York singer, and friend to Bernstein’s daughter Jamie, now performs solo and in unique duets with Landgren live at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.
