New York Philharmonic Principal String Quartet
Festival »New York Stories«
It’s always a good sign when experienced orchestral musicians play chamber music together instead of packing up their instruments and putting up their feet after a concert. In other words, someone’s definitely having fun at their job; for him or her, music is clearly a calling.
And this is the case for the musicians of the world-renowned New York Philharmonic, the oldest American orchestra, which travels to Hamburg as the flagship orchestra of the Elbphilharmonie’s »New York Stories« festival. The orchestra’s four principal string players just won’t take no for an answer and so appear as a string quartet in the Recital Hall following the orchestral concert. On the programme: a popular American-inspired composition, of course.
