It is with deep regret that Christoph von Dohnány has had to cancel his participation due to a health reasons. He is immensely grateful that Finnish conductor Hannu Lintu will be stepping in for him.
Without Christoph von Dohnányi’s passionate commitment this concert might have had to take place in another venue. When the former Principal Conductor of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra was asked why the Elbphilharmonie was necessary, he answered – with a mixture of astonishment, reluctance and amusement – »Why do we need Beethoven’s ninth symphony?« With that, all was said.
