NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra / Sakari Oramo
Lindberg / Sibelius
The subjects treated by Magnus Lindberg in his work »Accused – Three Interrogations« are timeless, but at the same time of great topical relevance: the spotlight here is on the complex relationship between the state and the individual, on freedom of thought and speech. The Finnish composer chose to set texts from three different eras to music: extracts from the interrogation of a victim of the bloody events surrounding the French Revolution, the record of an investigation conducted by the East German secret service (»Stasi«) in the 1960s, and the transcript of the US trial of Chelsea (Bradley) Manning held in 2013.
