Urknall der amerikanischen Moderne

To kick off the »Age of Anxiety« festival, Alan Gilbert presents key orchestral works in American music history that have almost been forgotten over here. At the heart of the programme is Aaron Copland, creator of that unmistakeable »American« orchestral sound. Copland even brought one of his country’s greatest statesmen onto the concert stage, at least in spirit: his 1942 work »Lincoln Portrait« quotes from the legendary US president’s speeches and letters.
