NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra / Krzysztof Urbański
Opening Night / Please Note the Change of Artist!
Season Opening of the Orchestra in Residence
If Igor Stravinsky was right, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra’s 2018/19 season opens with »one of the most beautiful works in all of French music«, namely with Ravel’s »Daphnis et Chloé«. The second suite from the ballet begins with an impressive depiction of dawn – what finer start could there be for the new concert season? As principal guest conductor, Krzysztof Urbański wields his baton over the orchestra at this opening night, which is devoted entirely to French composers.
Please note: French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet has been forced to cancel his appearance for the Opening Night of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra due to personal reasons. His fellow countryman Bertrand Chamayou steps in for him. The programme remains unchanged.
