Conductor Marc Minkowski is one of the most influential figures of the period instrument movement. His many important revivals were collaborations with his orchestra »Musiciens du Louvre«: their sparkling and virtuoso interpretations have rekindled interest in Baroque works, French operettas, as well as Grand Opéra. The conductor now makes his debut with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra.

Minkowski has long outgrown the status of being just a period instrument specialist; his new approach to the works of the French Romantic period has especially created a stir. »Très français« is the motto for his debut programme with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and includes the »Ma Mère l’oye« suite from Ravel’s fairy tale ballet, the intensely colourful and melancholic »Poème de l’amour et de la mer« by Ernest Chausson and César Franck’s Symphony in D minor.

The soloist is the young baritone Florian Sempey who has already worked with Minkowski on numerous occasions.
