NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra / Alan Gilbert
Bartók / Enescu / Bruckner
If being a »classic« means that an artist is able to reconcile the conflicting trends of their time and incorporate them perfectly in a work, then Béla Bartók has earned the title of a twentieth-century classic. His Violin Concerto No. 2 was exceedingly popular right from the start even though it by no means steers clear of the achievements of the avant-garde. Chief conductor Alan Gilbert is joined by star Greek violinist Leonidas Kavakos.
