NDR Chamber Music Concert: Piano Sextets
Glinka / Ljapunov
A trip to Italy can change your life. That was also the case for Russian national composer Michail Glinka. He travelled to Italy in the 1830s, visited Milan and Naples, went almost every day to the opera and composed his »Grand Sextet«. In Glinka’s chamber music from these years, one clearly hears his passion for Belcanto und »Bella Italia«. Sergej Ljapunov was less fortunate: he died in 1929, one year after being forced to leave Russia and go into exile in Paris. The ECHO Klassik award-winning fabergé-quintett performs the piano sextets by both Russians in the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall.
