It seems natural to perform the last song from Franz Schubert’s »Winterreise« lieder cycle on a hurdy-gurdy – the theme of the song is about the »hurdy-gurdy man« and his beggar’s instrument. However, Matthias Loibner adapted the entire cycle for his instrument. Accompanied by Nataša Mirković, a singer who is deeply rooted in jazz and world music, he conjures an inherently special kind of magic.
