Monteverdi-Chor Hamburg / Sabine Rein / Antonius Adamske
Dichterliebe – Robert Schumann und seine Lyriker
Chorwerke von Robert Schumann
In this programme, the renowned Monteverdi Choir Hamburg presents songs by Robert Schumann. The a cappella programme is combined with texts by poets associated with Schumann, such as Robert Burns. Robert Schumann’s music is often very serious and an expression of his melancholy. This can also be heard in his choral compositions, but there is also a good dose of humour, such as in the choral compositions »Schön Rohtraut« and »Zahnweh«. The songs in this programme invite you to reflect and smile in equal measure. Sabine Rein recites suitable excerpts from letters or other testimonies from Schumann’s life. These are accompanied by testimonies from the poets whose verses he set to music.
