Mayuko Miyata / Piano Recital
»Sakura Spring Moments«
Japanese pianist Mayuko Miyata fell in love with the music of the Polish composer Frédéric Chopin at an early age. As a result, during her studies she felt drawn to Europe and to Poland in particular. However, Miyata does not forget her Japanese roots in this exclusively Chopin programme. For the pianist, the lightness and special tonal colours of Chopin’s music are reflected in the cherry blossom (»sakura« in Japanese), one of the most important symbols of Japanese culture. After the interval, she is joined for a performance of Chopin’s Cello Sonata by François Thirault, a promising young cellist and scholarship holder at the Berlin Philharmonic’s Karajan Academy.
