A singer and a microphone, a pianist and a grand piano: For his first concert at the Elbphilharmonie, the baritone Max Raabe does without his Berliner Palast Orchester and presents himself solo, accompanied only by his long-time piano partner Christoph Israel. Together, they stroll through the music of the Weimar Republic, which no one knows better than Raabe: hits, chansons but also forgotten treasures are on the programme – song titles which hint at the dark chaos of the time, in which they were created, but with a spirit that is nevertheless entertaining.
