Matthias Pintscher’s Universe
Pintscher / Debussy / Schumann
Warming up, showtime, late night: this is how Artist in Residence Matthias Pintscher imagines his own special evening at the Elbphilharmonie, where he’ll be showing just how versatile he is. The all-round talent assumes different roles, guiding the audience through a relaxed evening as an interview partner, reader, wine taster and art expert in addition to his main professions as composer and conductor.
Matthias Pintscher enjoys keen support in his endeavour from the hand-picked alumni of the Lucerne Festival, whose principal conductor Pintscher has been since 2016. Every summer the Academy invites outstanding young musicians from all over the world to come to Lucerne and work together on works of contemporary music. Their strong team spirit already made a mark on their successful guest appearance at the Laeiszhalle at the opening of the season in September; tonight they celebrate a double reunion – with one another and with the Hamburg audience.
Pintscher and »his« musicians join forces to paint a picture of his journey through the world of fine arts: live performances of his own compositions and inspiring key works alternate with insights into Pintscher’s love of art, poetry and fine cuisine. Thus the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall is a concert platform one minute, an art exhibition the next, and after that a literary salon. The audience, meanwhile, is witness to a stimulating and intimate soirée in »Pintscher’s universe«.
