Martin Grubinger & Friends
Explosive, virtuoso and excessive – this is how we know the multipercussionist, for whom the term was invented in the first place. As Spiegel magazine put it: »He is a true stage event. When you listen to the young percussion virtuoso Martin Grubinger, you can easily imagine you’re watching an action movie.« The audience at one of his last concerts had the chance to convince themselves of the rhythm specialist’s breathtaking abilities when he surpassed every classical music concert superlative with »The Century of Percussion«. Grubinger now makes a spontaneous return visit to the Elbphilharmonie to mark the reopening after the coronavirus closure, accompanied by his core ensemble. The musicians bring an impressive arsenal of instruments with them as usual – everything that can be hit with any kind of sticks or just by hand is used to produce music. Demanding and spectacular at one and the same time!
