Mahler Chamber Orchestra / Mitsuko Uchida
Mozart / Widmann / Schumann
»No pianist conveys the energy and ecstasy of Mozart’s music like Mitsuko Uchida,« thus British daily The Independent about the British-Japanese pianist, who lived in Vienna for many years. Uchida’s recordings of the Mozart piano sonatas are famous, and won her the Gramophone Award in 1989, while her album featuring two of the composer’s piano concertos, in which she conducted the Cleveland Orchestra from the piano, was awarded a Grammy in 2011. The Mozart piano concertos are also the centrepiece of this concert with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, with which Mitsuko Uchida has already appeared several times at the Elbphilharmonie.
