»Beethoven’s music reflects human nature more than any other.« Leif Ove Andsnes, the world-class pianist from Norway, knows what he is talking about, having studied the works of this great composer for years. Beethoven took the words »joy,« »freedom« and »brotherly love« as his artistic credo, turning them into the battle cries of his Ninth Symphony. He also combined scintillating sounds with revolutionary ideals in his five piano concertos - a perfect combination for the immaculate and profound interpretations of Andsnes. In a special two-part opening of the »Elbphilharmonie Konzerte« 2014/2015 he directs all five Beethoven concertos from the piano. Partner with him is the explosive Mahler Chamber Orchestra, originally founded by Claudio Abbado. Their collaboration promises two »illuminating and intoxicating« evenings at the Laeiszhalle.
