Mahler Chamber Orchestra / Andrew Staples / Christoph Koncz
Please note the change of artist and programme
Description
The programme for the evening is dominated by two profound and moving symphonies by Franz Schubert. The »Unfinished« Seventh sets the tone at the start of the concert, with his »Tragic« Fourth finishing the night – in which the then 19-year-old expresses more intimacy and manic energy than genuine tragedy. The orchestral songs of Benjamin Britten’s extraordinarily scored Serenadecomplement these works, in which the tenor, horn and strings coalesce with one another to form a wonderfully transparent mix.
Please note: Due to health reasons, conductor Joana Mallwitz has to cancel the conducting of this concert at short notice. The conducting will be taken over by Christoph Koncz.
