The recorder doesn’t have the very best reputation reputation among solo instruments. But virtuoso interpreters like Dorothee Oberlinger and Stefan Temmingh have done a lot to increase the instrument’s coolness factor. And it’s good news that they have found imitators such as Lucie Horsch, who coaxes sounds from her instrument that one would never have expected from the recorder. The BBC Music Magazine has praised her »fearless virtuosity and superb technique«, while the Guardian already sees the Dutch musician, who is barely 20, as one of today’s top recorder players.
